Note: Still rough, and I plan to refine both the script and the visuals, just had to get something through with the time and energy I had
ACT 1 Once Upon A Time, Every Day, Until One Day
A mosquito named Migi emerges as an adult, all by herself. She's the only one who emerged out of her brood.
She flies out and finds herself assaulted by predators of all manner, and soon discovers that the giants will try to kill her on sight, whom she sees initially like giant colossi part of the environment until they start moving….to swat and crush her.
After a harrowing first day, she finds herself befriending an elderly jumping spider who explains the world they live in at the cacao farm. She explains that Migi's kind are viewed as pests and disease carriers, as menaces to be exterminated
Migi gets immensely upset at the hand she is dealt with, but the spider tells her to not let it hang over her and just live the life she has left with her remaining lifespan.
Concurrently, a younger farmer working in the field is in the process of harvesting. After a session of picking fruit, they wistfully sighed about the growth rate of the cacao bean yield being not as fruitful as they hoped, and complained why the bees aren’t pollinating the flowers to help.
Migi is done feeding for the day, and settles herself down for a rest. Serendipitously, she lands for a rest on the passing young farmer’s arm…
ACT 2 Because of that, Because of that, Because of that
The young farmer observed that the mosquito just came out of the flower on the cacao tree.
In this world, animals can talk with humans, and the farmer pokes at Migi with the edge of their finger, asking in astonishment if they just came from the flowers from the tree.
Migi is frightened being addressed by the colossus, but she responds a confirmation.
The young farmer gets into a revelatory train of thought, as the two discuss Migi’s life cycle, revealing more telling things of the benefits of mosquitoes
The young farmer hears of another mosquito fog pesticide run scheduled for the farm and tries to see if they can protest to their overseer on the mosquitoes’ behalf with the revelation they had
For Migi’s part, she spreads word to as many mosquitoes as she could to make a declaration: If they were to ever land on another animal, they were to refrain from drinking blood, and instead make a dedicated effort to watch over and raise their young to ensure future generations’ survival
The farmer is laughed out by their compatriots, who double down on their prejudices against mosquitoes, repeating common arguments about how irritating and useless they are, proceeding with the scheduled fogging
Migi is likewise met with intense backlash from a great deal many, protesting going against the grain and their instincts to prepare the best outcome for their future broods. This gets Migi harassed and ostracized
The two regroup, sharing their lack of luck, and decide to at least give a dedicated shot to the arrangement on their own, as the fogging proceeds.
ACT 3 Until Finally, And Ever Since Then
The farmer has made a dedicated orchard a good distance away from the main farm. Migi and a small group of surviving mosquitoes make it to live out the rest of their lives in as much peace as they can find. This community dedicates themselves to working this arrangement out.
As Migi expected, brood output is at a substantial low, and she herself knows she has nary a season to live to see all this through, but she has enough time to pass on her vision for a better future to the succeeding generations.
The farmer even offers in secret a small supply of blood so Migi’s future generations could have a better chance, but she refuses.
Time passes and whether Migi is still alive or not will go unsaid, but a visiting surveyor discovers this new community of mosquitoes that seemed to have moved past the need to feed on blood. The population has been low as a result, but their existence sparks a buzz in the entomology and agricultural world…
An impossible goal seemingly insurmountable with a road full of turmoil and uncertainty is not a futile endeavor, even if you cannot see it through in your lifetime.
If you have the knowledge, you have the responsibility to use it for the better outcome
Better to leave elsewhere to produce a desired outcome rather than try to change a rock
