Once upon a time … Alex lives in the magical city of Mythia,
Everyday … Alex’s parents are poor and are constantly in debt. Alex dreams of becoming a powerful sage in order to help support them as sages before many duties that make a lot of money and help people.
Until one day … Alex’s mum falls ill which sends her into a coma and her dad sells the house in order to pay the bills. They are forced to live in a small, rundown apartment which barely has hot water. One night Alex finds her dad on the floor, she calls the ambulance who takes them to the hospital. telling them he loves them and that he doesn’t want them to live like this anymore so he will return with the answer to there problems. Alex’s mum and dad search but can’t find him. Alex’s mum breaks down crying, his dad comforts her telling her they will find him.
Because of that … she goes to the academy of magic and stands against the headmaster. He tells him of his pursuits to become a highly skilled sage to which he is met with laughter. The headmaster throws him out, saying that no one can go to the academy that doesn’t have a family crest. Alex asks him what a crest is to which he laughs again. He explains to him that a crest grants people the right to become a sage. Think of it as an entrance ticket, which is given to families around Mythia that work extremely hard to obtain it. Families work for years in order to earn themselves a crest. Alex tells him that his family doesn’t earn much to which the headmaster tells him those are the rules and shuts the gates on him.
Because of that … He storms off into the dangerous forests of Erabor outside the school and sleeps under a tree. Suddenly Alex is woken up by the ground rumbling, as the sounds get louder and louder, Alex retreats into a bush. Suddenly a sage is thrown through the trees. A massive dragon ensues letting out a massive fire blast from its mouth. The sage quickly reacts with a redirection spell injuring the dragon, making it be thrown backwards itself. Enraged the dragon frantically fires a barrage of bursts at the sage forcing him to use his reflecting spell again but sending him flying and redirecting a burst at Alex to which he dodges revealing his presence to both of them. The sage too far away, starts charging to help Alex but the dragon starts to charge up. Alex lets out a scream of terrible and with it a massive wave of lightning sorcery, striking the dragon enough to make it retreat into the sky. The sage, shocked at what has just seen catches Alex as he falls to the ground unconscious.
Because of that … Alex wakes up in a chamber of some sort. A gateway opens and the sage walks through it. Alex distraught and confused the sage askes him to calm down as he introduces himself as Ithniel, a top fire sage at the academy of magic. Ithniel asks Alex about the incredible magic he displayed in the forest to which Alex tells him he does not know how he accomplished it. Ithniel tells him that the magic he performed is very high level and if he learns to use it correctly, he would be up there with the greatest of mages. Alex explains to Ithniel his story about his parents struggles and that he ran away to become a sage in order to help them but he cannot because he has no family crest. Alex asks him why he was fighting a dragon in the first place. Ithniel tells him that he is one of the young sages of the task force which protects mythia against beasts and the mythical creatures of their world. Ithniel offers Alex a deal, impressed at his potential, Ithniel asks Alex to join his family crest to become a student at the academy, in order to join in on the task force one day as his magic would be a force of protection to the citizens of mythia. Alex accepts.
