Hi guys! It has been an incredible journey with Aruma. I'm sad because of time I couldn't include the thousand details I have on this movie concept but I hope you like it as it is.

Video transcript:

Long ago the lands where lived and shared by man and spirits. For centuries they thrive with the protection of the spirits on earth, until King Muyal Jo, of the B'alam tribe, rebelled against them and their powers. King Muyal Jo, used the force of his army and a war began. The Sak-Lu tribe were surprised with the attack but swear to protect the spirits from harm and fight against the opponent. The spirits became angry and sad because of the betrayal of their people, so they let the humans live, but took away any power that remained in their lands.

Because of the Sak-Lu's tribe's loyalty, the spirits built a magic barrier and a protected land inside an old and inactive Volcano in one of the lands in ancient Guatemala, then to be known by the name, Chicabal. They grew mountains and corn fields for them to start a new life full of prosperity. And as a reward for their loyalty they gave everyone and their descendants enough powers to thrive peacefully.

Itxel, queen of the B'alam tribe, bride of King Muyal Jo, ran away from her people, committing treason against them to protect her baby daughter, Aruma. The love for her daughter allowed her to come inside the land, getting through the magic barrier that was being formed, regaining their magic, without first hurting them both. By the river, the mother beg the spirits to save her daughter, the spirits healed Aruma, but as a sacrifice they took Aruma's once returned magic and deposit it in the river as an untold warning of rebellion. However, Itxel couldn't handle her wounds, so she died and the spirits took her soul to their realm.

The spirits carried baby Aruma near the people and gave her to a young and loving couple who accepted her with open arms. With everything completed, the spirits decided to rest and return to their realm.
On a typical day Aruma, is waked up by the rooster imitation sound of her favorite and a little clumsy parrot, Kin. Aruma tired of staying all night reading her favorite stories and forgetting reality, was obliged by her optimistic mom to get up to start her day.

Aruma loved her family and enjoy moments with them. However, her two identical twin aunts and her dad sometimes tried to stop using their magic in front of her…as if it wasn’t obvious. But she loves them anyway.

Her over optimistic and happy mom was recently elected as the village major and she showed it that morning. Her excitement that day was so big she accidentally dropped the new paper posters to announce tomorrows ceremony to give thanks to the spirits for the magic and for the young 17 year olds to touch the Kutxal. A rock that contains magic and every year the younger adults hold it as the rock glows back for them as a representation of life and power. However…this poster and ceremony makes Aruma’s remember and be sad for que inexplicable lack of magic.

Given that Aruma has drastically failed in her multiple searches of finding a job, Aruma’s mom sends to be a volunteer at the Festival’s decorating team. When Aruma arrives she watches everyone using their magic to help with the big decorations. Aruma was to be in charge of nothing less than lighting the small candles. However, Aruma was overwhelmed and her mind went somewhere else for a second. And just a second took to start a fire that would bring half of the decorations to ashes.

Judgy faces and whispers surrounded Aruma around the village while running crying out there. She was guided by the invisible current of the wind until she unexpectedly reached the river, far away from the town an so close to the giant Ceiba tree that floated above and was imposible to reach by humans. It is said that once you reach the floating tree you will be able to find the spirits realm. The current became so strong, it pushed Aruma to the water, increasing her sadness and rage towards the spirits.

In that moment, everything changed. When the water became magic, the river became one with her and the magic that was taken from her as a sacrifice, returned.

Everything was normal. Until the next day …the magic starts to fade and the village starts to crumble. At the same time, Aruma gets, for the first time in her life, magic.

Because of that the villagers start to loose the small amount of magic they have, the crops begin to die and the chaos and confusion reigns around Chicabal.

Because of that Aruma panics, while she tries to hide the sparks of her uncontrolled and new magic. Even thought the village is in panic alert, the ceremony takes place. However, when the time arrives for Aruma to touch the magic rock (even as just a tradition) the rock explodes and Aruma’s powers glow like no other..and shock and silence reigns around the people.
