Once upon a time a young awkward donkey dreamed of singing in the barnyard band, but all the members were goats.

- Because Ruby is a young donkey, she hasn’t developed a strong voice or solid footing, so she’s very clumsy.

- She is easily distracted by her big dreams of singing in the barnyard band.

Every day she fumbles through her farm chores, admiring the goats and trying to sing like them.

- Ruby feeds and protects the flock, but the chickens laugh at her because she tries to sing like a goat.

- She sings along as she carries water to all the troughs, but she spills more than she delivers to the amusement of the other animals.
The goats laugh and remind her that she’ll never be part of the goat band.

Until one day she puts the chickens in danger because she sneaks away to watch the goats perform.

- A wily coyote breaches the fence and causes chaos in the chicken yard.

- Ruby’s mother responds just in time to chase away the coyote and save the chickens.

- Ruby returns to her very disappointed mother. She learns of the day’s activities and feels like she’s let down the entire farm family.
Her mother tells her that it’s time to put the dream of singing with the goats out of her head.
Because of that she felt like she didn’t belong anywhere and hid in the barn.

- She hides in a dusty corner of the barn, crying tears of frustration and feelings that she doesn’t belong.

- She feels that isn’t good at her donkey chores and she can’t do what she wants most (sing with the goats).

- As she’s feeling sorry for herself, the barn door creaks open. Grandmother softly approaches Ruby to console her.

Because of that she learned that her grandmother was a jazz singer.

- Grandmother pulls a dusty old record from a box and plays it for Ruby.

- As grandmother sings, Ruby sees her transform into her beautiful younger self.

- Grandmother tells the story of how she carried out her chores and sang in her own voice, which mesmerized the other animals.

- Grandmother encourages Ruby to sing her own song… in her own, special voice.

Because of that she becomes determined to take her responsibilities seriously and sing for the joy it brings her.

- Now, Ruby feeds and protects the flock with pride and sings the most beautiful, happy songs.

- The chickens follow her in amazement around the farm as she completes her other chores.

- She gathers more followers as she sings her way to all the watering troughs.

- The goats hear Ruby’s new voice and see the crowd of animals following her.

- An old goat hearing Ruby sing reminds him of when Ruby’s grandmother used to sing, as well as other animals (not just goats).
-
Build out the goats to GOAT band name.
- They decide to invite Ruby

And ever since then she accompanies the goats with her donkey tune in perfect harmony
